Furniture transport from England to Lithuania – tips for large loads

Moving furniture from England to Lithuania? Tips on preparing a large load for transport, what drives the price and how to choose the right transport.

Straipsnio nuotrauka

Moving furniture from England to Lithuania is an organisational challenge as well as a logistical one. Whether you're returning to Lithuania after living abroad or simply moving furniture between countries, good preparation helps you avoid hitches, extra costs and damaged belongings.

When planning to move furniture, it's important to assess in advance the real volume of the load, packing needs and whether the furniture will be dismantled. A dismantled bed, wardrobe or table can take up much less space in the vehicle than assembled furniture, so the number of rooms alone doesn't tell you the final price. If the furniture is part of a full move, the Krovanta calculator uses the number of bedrooms only as a starting guide to volume.

In this article we share practical tips on planning a furniture move efficiently and what you need to know about transport, packing and customs formalities.

1. Good planning is half the job

Plan the date in advance
Moving furniture takes more preparation than sending ordinary parcels. We recommend booking the date 2–3 weeks in advance, especially in summer or over the holidays.

Make a furniture list
A clear list lets you accurately assess:

  • the volume of the load (m³),
  • whether part-load or a full load is needed,
  • whether everything will fit in one trip.

This directly helps avoid price adjustments.

2. Preparing furniture for transport

Dismantle larger furniture
We recommend:

  • dismantling beds, wardrobes and tables;
  • removing legs, handles and protruding parts;
  • labelling the parts (e.g. “wardrobe A – doors”).

Empty and stabilise
Before the move, take out drawers and shelves and secure moving parts.

Use proper packing

  • bubble wrap
  • corner protectors
  • cardboard and ratchet straps

Proper packing matters not only for safety but also so that your freight insurance is valid.

3. Choosing the right transport

Part-load
An economical option when there isn't much furniture. You only pay for the space you use (m³). Delivery may take a little longer.

Full load
Suits larger amounts of furniture or when you need fast, direct delivery. More expensive, but with no extra stops.

Door-to-door removals
Including packing, carrying out, transport and (if needed) reassembling furniture in Lithuania.

4. Customs formalities since Brexit

When moving furniture from the UK to Lithuania, you may need:

  • a personal belongings declaration;
  • a list of furniture with values (this applies to used furniture too);
  • customs documents.

Most carriers help with the paperwork, so it's worth checking in advance.

5. How much does it cost to move furniture from the UK to Lithuania?

If you're moving just a few pieces, we can give the most accurate price based on their dimensions, photos and whether they can be dismantled. If the furniture is part of a whole-home move, the calculator's starting guide is 1 bedroom – from 3 m³, 2 bedrooms – from 5 m³, 3 – from 7 m³, 4+ – from 11 m³.

These volumes aren't a promise that a home of that size will take up exactly that much space. Dismantled furniture and compact packing can reduce the volume, while a large sofa, appliances or lots of boxes will increase it. Check an estimated price in our removals calculator, and we'll confirm the final amount once we've assessed the actual volume of your belongings.

6. How to save when moving furniture

  • choose part-load if you're not in a hurry;
  • pack it yourself;
  • get rid of furniture you don't need;
  • choose carriers with regular UK–LT runs.
